Times Square, the epitome of the city that never sleeps, is a dazzling spectacle of lights and video screens, and a theatre lover’s dream with 39 Broadway theatres in the surrounding area. And whether you’re after a good steak or traditional Ethiopian cuisine, with over 5000 restaurants in New York you’re guaranteed to find something to whet your appetite.

Things to do in New York
- Take a walk across Brooklyn Bridge and experience amazing views of southern Manhattan. Continue in to Brooklyn to see the beautiful brownstones in Brooklyn Heights and stroll along the promenade for more great views of Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge.
- Relive your favourite Sex and the City moments in Greenwich Village. Visit Carrie’s apartment on Perry Street then pop around the corner to the Magnolia Bakery for one of their famous cup-cakes. Finally have a Cosmo or two in one of the many fabulous bars – Bar 89 and The Temple Bar are highly recommended.
- Avoid the queues at the Empire State and visit Top of the Rock, the newly reopened observation deck on the 70th floor of the Rockefeller Center which offers incredible views of Central Park, The Empire State Building and the rest of New York City.
- Experience chic downtown life in SoHo, where you can shop till you drop in the many designer boutiques and art galleries, or people-watch in one of the many cafés. Or if SoHo is a little out of your price range, head a few blocks down to Chinatown where you can buy a fake designer handbag for a 1/10th of the price you’d pay for a real one in SoHo.
- Have a break from the hustle and bustle of city life in the world’s most famous park, Central Park. Stroll down Literary Walk, and see statues of America’s most famous authors and poets, then continue around the lakes to Belvedere Castle, a nature observatory that offers a fantastic outlook across the park. Beatles fans mustn’t miss the Strawberry Fields memorial to John Lennon, which is located just across the street from where he lived and Yoko Ono still lives today.
