The largest of the Greek Islands Crete sits in the Mediterranean and is very popular with tourists not just for its miles of sandy beaches, glorious sunshine and warm waters but also for the culture, warmth and hospitality.
Heraklion as well as being the largest city on the island is also a major cruise destination. This large city has much to offer. Head to Daedalou Street for designer clothes and big brand names, there are also many smaller shops on the side streets selling local produce and unique gifts and souvenirs. If you fancy learning a little about Crete visit one of the many museums and historical landmarks including the History Museum, The Battle of Crete Museum, the Koules Venetian Fortress and the Municipal Gallery and Basilica of St. Mark.
For nightlife, bars and beautiful beaches many visitors head to Hersonissos, great for water sports and snorkelling. Here you will find many hotels and lots of activities to keep you busy.

Things to do in Crete
- Take advantage of the warm clear seas around the island and try out one or more of the many water sporting activities.
- Sail the high seas on board a Pirate Ship! Daily cruises to Marathi or Bali are organized from Rethymno harbor at 9.30am
- Also leaving from Rethymno harbor are daily dolphin cruises. You can either go on a 2 or 3 hour cruise with the 3 hour cruise you have the added benefit of stopping off at the village of Panormo for a swim or the chance to grab a bite at one of the local restaurants
