Hotels in Campania,Italy

The Amalfi coast, a jaw droppingly beautiful landscape of precipitous fishing villages, ancient ruins, rocky coves and terraced lemon groves, a home from home for many and the trip of a lifetime for others.

Strangely the interior of the region is largely overlooked and remains rural. A land of pizza, mozzarella and olive groves, small villages which seem caught in a timewarp. The southern end of the region is largely national park and therefore remains as untouched now as it was over 250 years ago.

Dining out in these off the beaten track locations is excellent and small trattorias don’t seem to have changed their prices since the ‘70’s.

Cities such as Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano have their own unique feel and your are sure to fall in love with them body and soul.

We have picked out a selection of our favourite hotels in Campania for you to have a look through, including a 4* hotel located in a quite area of Paestum. For even more choice please use our search function.

Things to do in Campania

  1. Visit Naples: Considered modern, crime ridden and grubby by those people all too keen to escape down the coast to Pompeii, Amalfi and Positano, Naples hides its gems well. Spaccanapoli is a long winding street with a baroque feel that cuts through the historical centre changing its name a number of times. The Santa Lucia district with its Marina is what Napoli is all about.
  2. Sea views: Campania as a region is largely coastal with all the pretty cities on the coast. If you don’t stop once in a while to enjoy the view over the cliffs, from a narrow winding street or from a black sand beach you’ll miss out on one of life’s greatest pleasures.
  3. Eat & drink: Pizza was invented in Campania and the Neapolitans are fiercely protective of the recipe. You won’t eat a bad one as a result. To help you digest large helpings, they also make an extremely strong liqueur from the massive sweet lemons that grow along the coast, indulge with caution.
  4. Archaeology: Founded by Greeks, destroyed by volcanoes, there is archaeology everywhere from Pompeii to Herculaneum it is all worth a look and makes for an unusual day out.
  5. Island hopping: Apart from the mainland there are the islands of Capri and Ischia to visit, packed with celebs in august the rest of the year they make great havens with many secluded private hideaways. Great for secretive romantic assignations. Ferries and hydrofoils daily from Sorrento and Napoli.
